Stock and Scratch
Having become interested in the look and feel of stock footage aswell as film scratches etc., I gathered some royality free footage and started to mess around with it.
This aint great but, I wanted to see what stock would look like with great big painty scratches over the top.................. answer - pretty average!
Nevermind!
I got the stock footage from an online 'Prelinger' Film Archive and the painty scratch composited on top is from the BBC Motion Gallery.

Edit - in hindsight, I actually really like this effect. Only thing is, I've not created the scratches myself. I composited them using after effects. I found the scratch effects on the BBC motion gallery website - it still had a BBC watermark on it but, was fine for research purposes. I think I might try creating something like this again but, in a more rotoscoping type of way. Norman Mclaren style. Hmmmm, thoughts!
